Position Openings: PhD Students, Research Assistants, and Postdoctoral Researchers

Our lab at the City University of Hong Kong is looking for talented and motivated individuals to join us as PhD students, Research Assistants (RAs), and Postdoctoral Researchers.
Who We Are: We are molecular imagineers dedicated to tackling energy and environmental challenges at the molecular and materials levels. Our team aims to develop innovative molecular toolkits designed to streamline the synthesis and processing of novel functional materials to power emerging sustainable technologies, including energy storage and carbon neutralization solutions.
Our Lab Focuses on the Following Topics:
- Molecule-defined Nanoporous Materials:
- We seek simple, efficient synthetic methodologies to construct nanoporous materials beyond metal-organic and covalent organic frameworks.
- Stimuli-responsive Acids & Bases:
- We discover and design new molecular motifs with tunable acidity/basicity responsive to redox or light triggers.
- Molecular Engineering:
- We engineer creative molecular solutions to minimize undesired irreversible parasitic chemical pathways in materials synthesis, energy storage, and separation.
Positions Available:
- Postdoctoral Researchers:
- Requirements: PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Strong publication record and experience in electrochemical organic synthesis, porous liquids, Li-air batteries, or redox-flow batteries.
- Responsibilities: Lead research projects, mentor junior researchers, and publish high-impact papers.
- PhD Students:
- Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Strong academic record and a keen interest in research.
- Responsibilities: Conduct original research, participate in lab meetings, publish papers, and assist in teaching.
- Research Assistants (RAs):
- Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field. Previous research experience is a plus.
- Responsibilities: Support research projects, manage lab equipment, assist in data analysis, and contribute to publications.
