Dr. Alparslan Emrah Bayrak
I am looking for multiple PhD students to start in the Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 semester. Please spread the word in your network.
We welcome all qualified candidates to apply. Qualified candidates from underrepresented minorities in STEM are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed until the positions are filled. The self-motivated applicants should have a background on optimization, machine learning and physics-based modeling of engineering systems.
There are two ongoing projects that new PhD students will work on:
Project 1: This project focuses on modeling design decision-making in teams under competition. This project will involve using computational modeling of design decision-making with Bayesian Optimization, Sequence Learning and Game Theory. The project will also have human-subject experiments with design problems on computer platforms to study team behaviors under competition.
Project 2: This project focuses on studying collaborative behaviors between human and AI systems during an engineering system design process. The project will have a computational analysis of human-AI collaboration for design optimization problems and human-subject experiments on a video game where human and AI systems collaboratively solve an engineering design problem.
