This position is seeking one or two PhD students in the area of sustainable construction and infrastructure materials to begin in Fall 2024. The PhD student will be based in the School of Building Construction at Georgia Tech under the supervision of Dr Eben Fanijo. We welcome an enthusiastic student with research expertise in the development, processing, testing, and implementation of green, sustainable, and smart infrastructure materials, which will connect this research to the broad challenges of building infrastructure to serve humanity through the 21st century and beyond.
Eligibility
Required Qualification
- Both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in related fields (e.g. Building, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction) from an accredited institution.
- Strong fundamentals in green building materials, sustainable concrete, and infrastructure. Eagerness to work in a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural team.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Official GRE score or a sample research paper.
- Be present in the US.

Preferred Qualification
- Conduct innovative research in green and sustainable cast and 3D-printed concrete.
- Knowledgeable with material characterization techniques, properties testing, cost analysis, and life-cycle analysis, which would include quantifying energy consumption and CO2 emissions, among others.
- Writing progress reports and technical documentation.
