The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Utah State University (USU) is pleased to announce fully funded Ph.D. and M.S. positions starting in January or August 2025. These positions offer an exciting opportunity to engage in groundbreaking research at the intersection of:

  3. Transportation Equity and Justice

Research Topics:

Potential areas of research include, but are not limited to:

  • Evacuation modeling
  • Post-disaster mobility

Qualifications:

Formal research experience or a background in engineering is not required. However, a passion for these research topics is essential. Applicants with skills or an interest in learning the following are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Qualitative research methods
  • Transportation modeling
  • Econometric modeling

Research Collaborations:

Students will have access to various collaboration opportunities through centers like:

  • The NSF-funded Advancing Sustainability through Powered Infrastructure for Roadway Electrification (ASPIRE) research center
  • The Center for Transformative Infrastructure Preservation and Sustainability (CTIPS) university transportation center (UTC)
