Overview: Several fully funded Ph.D. positions are available at the Privacy, Inference, and Communications Laboratory (n-CoLab) within the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences at Florida International University. We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a strong interest and background in the broad area of machine learning, including graph neural networks, federated learning, diffusion models, and explainable artificial intelligence.
Project Areas:
- Explainability and Explanation-Assisted Learning in Graph Neural Networks
- Interpretable Learning Architectures based on Fourier Transforms
- Differential Privacy in Federated Learning
- Diffusion Models for Object Matching with Applications in Network Privacy
The positions involve programming, mathematical analysis, documentation and publication, and collaborative work with internal and external collaborators. A detailed summary of our relevant prior works can be found on our research group’s website.

Preferred Start Date: The positions are available immediately, with a preferred start date of Fall 2024 or Spring 2025.
Personal Qualifications: Applicants should have completed their B.Sc. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields before the start date. An M.Sc. degree in CS, EE, or relevant areas is preferred.
