Graduate Student Position in Dryland Restoration at Colorado State University Dryland Ecology and Management Lab, USA

The Dryland Ecology and Management Lab at Colorado State University (CSU) is actively recruiting a motivated MS or PhD student to join the lab for research in ecological restoration and trait-based approaches. The preferred start date for this position is Spring or Summer 2025.

Lab Overview:
The Dryland Ecology and Management Lab focuses on basic and applied ecological research aimed at increasing the resilience of arid and semi-arid (dryland) ecosystems in the face of global changes. The lab employs various methods including field and greenhouse experiments, soil microbiome analysis, ecological modeling, remote sensing, and synthesis of large datasets.

Position Overview:
The selected graduate student will focus on research in dryland ecology and restoration. Specifically, they will collaborate with researchers and practitioners to screen candidate forb species for functional traits, nutritional value for pollinators and wildlife, and their practical application in restoration projects within Colorado’s Denver-Julesburg (DJ) Basin. Applicants with experience or interest in field ecology and plant trait-based approaches are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will enroll in the Graduate Degree Program in Ecology (GDPE) at CSU. This position offers full funding, including a 12-month stipend and full coverage of graduate tuition and fees. Graduate student benefits at CSU will also be provided.
