We are inviting applications for a Master’s or PhD student position at the Faculty of Medicine, Laval University, in Quebec City, Canada. The selected candidate will join the team of Dr. Aurelie de Rus Jacquet.
Research:
Our team specializes in the study of Parkinson’s disease in order to describe the molecular mechanisms regulating disease progression. Dr. de Rus Jacquet studies the role of glial cells in disease pathogenesis and the mechanisms by which they regulate cellular interactions at the blood-brain barrier. We use induced pluripotent stem cell-based models and microfluidic technologies to study cellular interactions and describe the mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease (www.derusjacquetlab.com).
The project:
The Master’s or PhD project will focus on understanding multicellular communication at the blood-brain barrier in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s disease. The objective is to identify new targets and innovative therapeutic approaches to slow or halt disease progression. Methodological approaches include cell culture, immunofluorescence, microscopy, biochemistry, and cell biology.
Your profile:
- Obtained a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Engineering degree in Neurosciences, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences or a related major
- Excellent academic record
