Multiple PhD positions are available at Penn State Mechanical Engineering related to one or more of the following topics: Cyber-physical control systems, Autonomous manufacturing, High-deposition rate additive manufacturing of novel materials. The successful Ph.D. applicants will be awarded a competitive scholarship covering both tuition and living expenses.

Expected Start Date: August 2024 / January 2025.

Preferred Experience: Strong background in one or more of these areas: controls, machine learning, applied mathematics, materials characterization. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with major/specialization in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, controls, or any other relevant engineering/science discipline. Master’s degree is preferred but not required. Hands-on experimental experience is a plus.
