NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) offers paid internships for high school and college students, providing hands-on experience in science, technology, aeronautics, and space exploration. These internships allow students to work alongside research scientists, engineers, and other professionals, gaining valuable skills and practical knowledge.
Internships may be full-time or part-time at a NASA center or facility, helping students strengthen their resumes and prepare for future careers.
Eligibility Criteria:
- OSTEM Intern:
- U.S. Citizen
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Must be 16 years or older at the time of application
- Must be a full-time student (high school to graduate level) or a part-time college student (enrolled in at least 6 semester hours)
- Pathways Intern:
- U.S. Citizen
- Minimum 2.9 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Must be 16 years or older at the time of appointment
- Must be a degree-seeking student, currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited institution (at least half-time)
- Must have completed at least 15 semester hours or 23 quarter hours
- Must be able to work at least 480 hours before completing degree/certificate requirements
- International Intern:
- Citizen of a country with a current agreement with NASA
- Must maintain high academic standing
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) related to NASA’s mission priorities
- Must demonstrate active interest in the U.S. space program
- Must be proficient in English
Internship Sessions & Deadlines (2025):
- Summer 2025: Application deadline – February 28, 2025
- Fall 2025: Application deadline – May 16, 2025
