Applied Magnetics and Photonics (AMPS) Lab

Programmable Integrated Photonics and In-Memory Photonic Computing

The AMPS Lab in the ECE Department of Boise State University is looking for a motivated graduate student interested in pursuing a PhD in the area of integrated photonics.

Project Responsibilities –

  1. Design and model photonic devices such as interferometers, resonators and directional couplers.
  2. Fabricate and test photonic devices integrated with advanced materials using microfabrication techniques and bench-top optical measurement systems.
  3. Design and develop nanotransducers to provide thermal and magnetic stimuli in integrated photonics.
  4. Present in leading conferences, publish your work in leading journals and be an active member of the vibrant Boise State community.

Requirements

  1. Masters or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering/Materials Science/Physics or a related field.
  2. Knowledge of electromagnetics, photonics, microfabrication and optical characterization.
  3. Knowledge of simulation tools – Ansys Lumerical, COMSOL, LabView.
  4. Strong writing/presentation skills.
