Ph.D. Position in Metal-Free Catalysis

We are seeking a creative Ph.D. candidate to develop metal-free catalysts for C-H borylation reactions (Science, 2015, 349, 513; JACS, 2019, 141, 12305; ACIE, 2023, e202309295). This Ph.D. position is offered by the group of Prof. Frédéric-Georges Fontaine at the Chemistry Department of Université Laval (Quebec City). Position Details:

  • Duration: 4-year fully funded Ph.D. position
  • Starting Date: September 2024 or January 2025
  • Opportunities: Attend conferences and participate in international collaborations

Requirements:

  • A master’s degree with hands-on experience in synthetic chemistry
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Clear interest in main group chemistry and/or catalysis
  • Good writing skills

Beneficial Skills (not mandatory):

  • Kinetic monitoring
  • Computational chemistry (DFT)
  • NMR spectroscopy

Language Requirements:

Université Laval is a French-speaking university. While fluency in French is not mandatory, candidates must be comfortable living in a French-speaking environment.
