PhD Admissions Information: Urban Planning and Public Policy (UPPP) University of Texas at Arlington, Texas, USA

The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs (CAPPA), primarily admits doctoral students in the Urban Planning and Public Policy (UPPP) PhD program for the Fall semester. Spring admissions are rare, and there are no summer admissions.

  • Fall Application Deadline: February 1st

Exemptions for U.S. Applicants:

  • U.S. students with a master’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution in relevant fields (Urban Planning, Public Administration, Public Policy, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture) and substantial professional experience are not required to submit GRE scores.
  • The Admissions Committee may request written samples to demonstrate graduate-level English proficiency.

Other Admission Categories:

  1. Probationary Admission:
    • Applicants with a minimum 3.0 graduate GPA who demonstrate strengths in other requirements (e.g., personal statement, letters of recommendation, GRE scores) may be admitted conditionally.
    • Additional conditions such as completing an approved writing course may be imposed.
