PhD Position in Bio-inspired Aerodynamics at the University of South Florida (USF), USA

The Bio-inspired Aerodynamics Lab (BiAeroLab) at the University of South Florida (USF) seeks candidates for a fully funded PhD position to join us as early as Fall 2024.

About us:

We are as passionate about Math as we are about nature. In our research we seek to develop novel mathematical models to study the physics of natural fliers and apply this knowledge to the design and development of future air vehicles. Oh, and we are located at USF (R1 Research University and AAU member) in sunny Tampa Bay, FL, home to some of the best beaches in the US.

Available projects:

We have several projects that involve analytical and numerical approaches to study problems in the fields of fluid-structure interaction and unsteady aerodynamics.

Qualifications:

A BSc. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related subject with high achievements in Mathematics and Fluid Mechanics. All applicants must satisfy the USF graduate program admission requirements: https://www.usf.edu/admissions/index.aspx.

Preferred experience:

  • in Aerospace Engineering or closely related subjects.
  • Research experience in a related field.
  • Experience with Matlab and/or programming.
