The Conservation Biology Lab at the Université de Neuchâtel, Switzerland, is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join their research team in biodiversity conservation. The position will focus on evidence-based conservation strategies, starting on February 1, 2025 (with some flexibility).
About the Role
As part of the Conservation Biology Lab, the selected candidate will:
- Conduct research on the effectiveness of protected areas and conservation measures for maintaining species populations and ecosystem integrity.
- Investigate ecological corridors to enhance habitat connectivity, adopting a landscape-level perspective that considers human-dominated areas.
- Focus on specific target groups based on the candidate’s interests and expertise.
- Contribute to bridging the gap between academic research and practical conservation actions.
- Participate in teaching activities for conservation biology at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels at the Université de Neuchâtel.

Candidate Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in biodiversity conservation, nature management, or a related field.
- Experience with field methods in biodiversity monitoring.
- Proficiency in GIS and/or statistical analysis.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of French (as the project focuses on regional practices).
