PhD Position in Biodiversity Conservation at Université de Neuchâtel, Switzerland

The Conservation Biology Lab at the Université de Neuchâtel, Switzerland, is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join their research team in biodiversity conservation. The position will focus on evidence-based conservation strategies, starting on February 1, 2025 (with some flexibility).

About the Role

As part of the Conservation Biology Lab, the selected candidate will:

  • Conduct research on the effectiveness of protected areas and conservation measures for maintaining species populations and ecosystem integrity.
  • Investigate ecological corridors to enhance habitat connectivity, adopting a landscape-level perspective that considers human-dominated areas.
  • Focus on specific target groups based on the candidate’s interests and expertise.
  • Contribute to bridging the gap between academic research and practical conservation actions.
  • Participate in teaching activities for conservation biology at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels at the Université de Neuchâtel.

Candidate Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in biodiversity conservation, nature management, or a related field.
  • Experience with field methods in biodiversity monitoring.
  • Proficiency in GIS and/or statistical analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of French (as the project focuses on regional practices).
