PhD Positions in falls prevention and reducing inequities in Parkinson’s care at the University of New South Wales, Sydney

We are seeking expressions of interest for the two research opportunities outlined below:

  1. Reducing inequities in Parkinson’s disease care

Within this topic, a PhD study can be negotiated based on the student’s interest and the expertise of the supervisory team. Potential areas include understanding how culturally and linguistically diverse communities navigate the healthcare system, plans to reduce existing inequities in Parkinson’s disease, enhancing Parkinson’s care for Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders, and increasing our understanding of how Parkinson’s affects women

  1. Insights into Falls Prevention from Death Investigations and Coroner’s Court Cases

Within this topic, a PhD study can be negotiated based on the student’s interest and the expertise of the supervisory team. Potential areas include using coronial sources to understand deaths from falls in different contexts, examining the impact of existing policies and/or laws generated by coroners courts and linking existing health outcomes to falls.

Following an expression of interest and after identifying the most suitable project, the candidate may be encouraged to apply for an Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship with the support of the supervisors (see links below).
