We are excited to announce three (3) PhD research student positions in the field of 6G wireless communications starting from January 2025. The PhD students in Track #1 and Track #2 will be hosted/registered at Université Laval, QC, Canada, and the PhD students in Track #3 will be hosted/registered at École de technologie Supérieure (ETS), Montreal, Canada.
Track #1: Digital Twin for Spectrum Sharing Between 6G NTN and Terrestrial Networks
Key Research:
- Develop a Digital Twin for NTN-TN coexistence and use it for predictive resource control.
- Investigate the collaboration among multiple digital twins via federated learning.
- Explore synergies among multi-layer mobile edge computing, semantic communications, and digital twins for 6G networks.
Track #2: DL-enabled Spectrum Sensing and Interference Management for 6G Networks in Mid Band (Co-supervised with Dr. Ming Zeng, Université Laval)
Key Research:
- DL-empowered spectrum sensing and resource allocation for coexisting cellular networks.
- Collaborative and decentralized spectrum sensing using federated learning.
- Spectrum sensing and resource allocation for multiple operators/systems with different priority levels.
Track #3: Synergy between Integrated Sensing and Communications for 6G and Digital Twin (Co-supervised with Dr. Georges Kaddoum, ETS)
Key Research:
- Distributed cognitive sensing for building high-fidelity digital twins.
- PHY/MAC layer optimization for cognitive sensing and communications using a digital twin.
- Experimental validation of algorithms using software-defined radios.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) or Computer Science (CS).
- Background in wireless communications and networking.
- Solid programming skills in Python.
- Experience/expertise in machine learning (DL/RL) for wireless networks.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred):
- Expertise/knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Radio resource management, spectrum sharing and sensing, federated learning, ray tracing, and digital twins.
- Experience in SDR-based experiments.
