PhD Student (m/f/d) in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry and Mass Spectrometry-based Proteomics for Investigation of CLN3 protein-protein interactions and their alteration due to disease-causing mutations
Project description
We seek a highly motivated PhD student candidate for the analysis of lysosomal protein-protein interactions and complexes for a project funded by the NCL foundation (www.ncl-stiftung.de). The successful applicant will investigate the lysosomal protein CLN3, mutations of which are causative for a Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis known as Batten Disease. The project will be addressed by a combination of state-of-the-art approaches for the investigation of lysosomal proteins, including cell/molecular biology as well as mass spectrometry-based proteomics techniques, with a focus on the investigation of the engagement of CLN3 in multi-protein assemblies.
Your profile
- Master’s degree in (molecular/cell) biology, biochemistry, or a similar degree
- Experience in molecular biology techniques such as cell culture, western blot, and microscopy
- Ideally experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics
- Strong communication, data visualization, and presentation skills
- Good command of the English and/or German languages
- Ability to work independently

The successful applicant will be part of our highly international and interdisciplinary research team (www.winter-lab.org) located at the IBMB in Bonn, Germany.
