2 PostDoc and 5 PhD Positions at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain

The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) is offering exciting research opportunities under the Spanish National Strategy (ENIA) in collaboration with Veridas and the Ministry of the Interior. We are looking to fill 2 PostDoc and 5 PhD positions focused on Biometrics, Machine Learning (ML)/Artificial Intelligence (AI), Explainability, Fairness, Security, DeepFakes, and Attack Protection.

Projects:

  • Cátedra ENIA UAM-VERIDAS en IA Responsable
  • R&D Agreement with the Ministry of the Interior

Co-PIs: Julian Fierrez & Ruben Tolosana (https://biometrics.eps.uam.es/)

Dates: Mid 2024 – Mid 2027 (positions will be filled as good candidates are received; extraordinary candidates can start immediately with flexibility in the starting date)

Essential Criteria:

  • PostDoc:
    • PhD in ML/AI, Computer Vision, NLP, or Biometrics
    • Excellent publication record with at least some papers in top-tier venues according to ELLIS guidelines (https://ellis.eu/members)
  • PhD:
    • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar field
  • General:
    • Fluent English/Spanish communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Solid understanding of Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning
    • Good programming skills
    • Proactive, curiosity-driven, and committed to meeting deadlines
    • Availability to travel for technical and scientific conferences, and technical exhibitions
