International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB)
The position of Research assistant is available in the Cardiovascular Biology Laboratory led by prof. Serena Zacchigna at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering (ICGEB). The selected applicant will work in close collaboration with clinicians and biomedical companies to foster the development of a platform for advanced cell therapy for non- healing wounds. The project will be performed in the international and stimulating environments of the ICGEB (project leader), in collaboration with several project partners from academia, hospitals and biomedical industries based in Italy and Slovenia. The candidate will contribute to the development of cell therapy products for the treatment of difficult wounds and to an open platform that will guide researchers to comply with local and international regulations in the field of cell therapy. Activities will include both wet experiments and project managing/reporting. Applicants must hold a Degree in Biology or related scientific fields and have hands- on experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques. Fluent English (spoken and written) and working knowledge of Italian (spoken and written) are required. Knowledge of Slovenian will be a plus. Applicants are expected to be highly motivated, able to work in a collaborative environment and proficiently interact with clinicians and collaborators from industry. Previous experience in the use of primary cells from adipose tissue, cell therapy and regulatory science is an asset. Applicants should have experience in project management, familiarity with Interreg programme is an asset.
The project is funded in the framework of Interreg VI-A Italia-Slovenia 2021-2027. The position is for 20-24 months, with a salary of 27.000-36.000 € per year, depending on experience and qualifications, starting in May 2024.
