Dr. Omer San

PhD Opportunities at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville: My group has 3 openings for PhD students: 2 Research Assistants (RAs) and 1 Teaching Assistant (TA). If you’re interested in joining us at Rocky Top, please contact me and specify which of the following topics you’re applying for:

  1. Hybrid Analysis and Modeling for Inverse Problems

Ideal candidates have a background in applied mathematics, numerical methods, and machine learning. The research involves developing and validating new algorithms that integrate physics-based and data-driven approaches.

  1. Scalable Dynamic Data Assimilation for Multiscale Systems

Candidates should have expertise in mathematics, computational methods, and data assimilation. The role includes creating and implementing new algorithms on high-throughput and high-performance computing platforms.

  1. Mathematical Foundations for Digital Twins of Complex Processes

Applicants should have a strong foundation in applied mathematics, numerical methods, and modeling. The research focuses on developing and validating new models and algorithms for digital twins.

I’m currently considering PhD applicants only. Candidates without an MS degree are still eligible. As Fall 2024 approaches, priority will be given to applicants currently in the USA.
