PhD on Creating a Spatial Decision Support System for Agricultural Watershed Management on a Large Scale at University of Guelph

We’re looking for a dedicated PhD candidate to join the research team led by Dr. Prasad Daggupati at the University of Guelph. This position focuses on developing a spatial decision support system (SDSS) to guide agricultural watershed management practices in Ontario.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design a web-based SDSS framework to aid policymakers and farmers in implementing BMPs across different scales.
  2. Utilize modeling outputs and optimization algorithms to offer tailored BMP recommendations.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the inclusivity and effectiveness of the SDSS.
  4. Contribute to sharing research findings through open-access channels.

Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in environmental engineering, computer science, geographic information systems, or a related field.
  2. Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., R, Java, SQL, Docker) and web development frameworks.
  3. Experience with spatial data analysis and modeling tools (e.g., GIS, SWAT).
  4. Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
