PhD Position at University of Guelph in Assessing Best Management Practices for Soil Health, Water Quality, and GHG Emissions

We’re looking for a motivated candidate to join Dr. Prasad Daggupati’s research team at the University of Guelph for a PhD position. This role focuses on evaluating the impact of Best Management Practices (BMPs) on soil erosion, water quality, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Ontario’s agricultural landscapes.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field monitoring to assess BMP effectiveness in mitigating soil erosion and improving water quality.
  • Develop and validate modeling frameworks for soil health indicators, GHG emissions, and water quality dynamics.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders for inclusive research practices.
  • Contribute to developing a web-based framework for implementing environmentally friendly BMPs.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in agricultural engineering, hydrology, environmental science, or related fields.
  • Experience in fieldwork, data collection, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in modeling software (e.g., SWAT, AnnAGNPS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative research environment.
